The Protection part 2I woke up staring straight into the bright rising sun.
"Good morning." I whispered.
I looked up to find Valentin still curled up asleep on the shore.
I stood up and brushed the sand off my arms and legs.
"Valentin?" I said putting my hand on his fluffy fur.
He woke up and let out a big long yawn.
I giggled. "cute."
"Shut up human." He growled.
"Not a morning person...er...morning beast?" I teased.
He grunted and got up from the sand.
"Oh no." Valentin said staring at the shore.
"What?" I asked.
"Espen should be here." He whispered.
"I'm sure he's fine. He has his epic supernatural powers and stuff." I said trying to convince myself of this.
"Let's hope." Valentin said. "Get on. We must keep moving."
I climbed onto his fuzzy back and held on.
Valentin started up again.
"I miss him." I admited.
Espen had left a year ago with the promise he'd be back.
"I'm sure you do. He misses you too." Valentin replied.
"Is he coming back?" I asked worried.
"What if he doesn't?"
Talk To MuchI remember everything i say,
Every stupid thing i say,
I talk a lot,
I don't think about it though,
It leaves me just regretting so much of what i say,
I say stupid things,
I get myself in trouble,
Sometimes i just need to shut up.
The Protection part 1Who would have guessed?
He was a demon.
I stared out the window at the dark starry sky.
"Espen?" I whispered.
I could feel the warm breeze quicken a bit.
The long howl of a wolf broke through the night.
I smiled a bit.
He's out there.
I curled up under a soft blanket.
Though it was warm enough tto go with out.
Home alone, I was nervous.
After about an hour i heard a noise downstairs.
I shot up instantly and softly stood up.
Walking slowly towards my bedroom door i kept my breathing slow.
I slowly opened my dor and peered out into the hallway.
Light burst from the moon through the front door which lay ajar.
My heart seemed to stop for a minute.
I crept down the stairs so stupidly.
I was far too curious to stop myself.
Always making moves like this.
Curiosity 'almost' killed the cat.
Looking around the corner i felt so small.
Small compared to the beast i was currently staring at.
It was almost tall enough to break through the cieling.
It had jet black greasy fur that formed in
Abandoned ChapelThe parish waits now,
the loneliness of corners
crawling outward on walls--
chipped away by the wind,
and held together
by silk spindles;
cobwebs align them like the membranes of memories,
the cut of a jewel in an broken window
against the sun
where beads of rain
gather in a mesh of strands
a new Mosaic
against the backdrop of a cemetery;
My eyes seek out the sermon
in close proximity,
paint no distance
between headstone and cloud;
elegies topple each other
in their climb to heaven
as light trickles
over the shade,
breathes a new glow over snuffed candles.
I feel the weight in these empty rows,
how a breath couldn't cease to be breath
in the midst of prayer.
